Appeal to Authors

Hilary Robinson

How would you like to test your target audience, either by donating some of your books to be shared within our school network reaching the very children you are writing your stories for. Or by going one step further and inviting those children to have your special stories, treasured tales and exciting adventures read to them by you in a classroom setting.

Seeing the words leaps from the pages and come to life, while your audience of inspired and curious children, become super engaged and desperate to learn more about the characters created.

We do also have some older Book Worms (the club includes 5 -16 year olds) keen to delve a little deeper and develop their interview skills. Book Worms Are Real would then feature their interview with you on the website and promote your books to our home page for minimum of one week.

So many ways to be involved:

• Donate your published books

• Share a reading session of your books with a school local to you

• Be interviewed by a Book Worm and featured on the website

If you would like to find out more, or arrange a school visit locally to you please use the message us at Contact@Bookwormsarereal.com

Author Appeal – Update

On Tuesday October 17th 2023, we welcome our first Book Worms Author, the award winning, wonderfully warm, talented and generous writer Hilary Robinson, will be visiting a school in Cheshire. We are delighted and the children are especially excited to hear some treasured tales and ask the questions only children can!

We are quite looking forward to hearing all about where Hilary takes her inspiration from, her favourite books as a child and as a huge fan of Frogs, I am looking forward to hearing how the titles… “Ten Yoga Frogs” and “Twelve Festive Frogs” came about.

Spending an afternoon with Reception and Year 1 classes, Hilary may well find she leaves school with some suggestions and ideas for her next children’s books. There are certainly some characters and undoubtedly some quotes which may well feature inside a Story coming soon to a bookshelf near you!

Here is a link to Hilary’s website, should anyone wish to add one of Hilary’s many books to your reading list, there really is a book for everyone children and parents alike:

For our greatly anticipated Author afternoon will be reading the following books with the children:

  • Three Pigs and the Gingerbread Man
  • Cinderella and the Beanstalk
  • Spooky Fairy Tale mix up
  • Twelve Festive Frogs
  • Ten Yoga Frogs
  • How to teach a Dragon Manners
  • Mixed up Fairy Tales
  • The Christmas Truce
  • Sarah the Spider
  • Jasper – The Space Dog
  • Jasper – Viking Dog
  • The Princess’s Secret Sleepover
  • The Princess’s Secret Letters
  • Sarah Spider and the Barn Dancers

Hilary has written more than 60 children’s books so we really struggled to select the shortlist above.

They will of course be shared with the Book Worms club after Hilary’s visit and they are a super idea for stocking fillers. Worthy of note, the Jasper books are printed on an off white paper using the Open Dyslexic font, which helps to make reading more pleasurable for Dyslexic readers.
